Benedict Cumberbatch Finally Honored With Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

BBC’s “Sherlock” and Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “Doctor Strange” actor Benedict Cumberbatch has finally been honored with his own star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame!

It was given to him at a ceremony held on Monday, February 28, with Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige and “Star Wars” and “Star Trek” director JJ Abrams by his side.

In a speech, Cumberbatch described the star as an “extraordinary honor.”

“I’m British so part of me is finding this incredibly painful,” he added in jest. “The other part of me is quite enjoying this massive ego stroke.”

He also used his time to speak out against climate change and to remember everyone who have been and still are being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic around the world. He even touched on the pressing issue of Russia’s attack on Ukraine, urging action to be made to stop it from escalating.

His receiving of the Hollywood Walk of Fame star comes a month before the 94th Academy Awards where he is nominated for Best Actor for his role as Phil Burbank in Western psychological drama film “The Power of the Dog” written and directed by Jane Campion.

Meanwhile, his upcoming film, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” is scheduled to premiere this May 2022.
