The film, directed by Bill Condon and stars Emma Watson as Belle, is now the highest grossing film of 2017 worldwide.

According to Disney, it’s also now the highest grossing movie musical of all time, beating out Grease and Chicago.

The film is also clearly Disney’s most successful live-action remake to date, outperforming Cinderella, the Alice in Wonderland films, and The Jungle Book. It had a spectacular opening weekend, earning $174 million, sustaining its success in the following weeks.

Beauty and the Beast is now the 29th film to reach the billion-dollar mark — other billion-dollar movies under the Disney franchise include The Avengers, Captain America: Civil War, Frozen, and more.

This is also Emma Watson’s second film that earned billions, with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, earning $1.3 billion in 2008.
