There’s a certain aesthetic that comes to mind when we think of Batman. When we think of the caped crusader, we imagine dark, brooding, and mysterious. An anime may not be top of mind, but next year, the story will take on a Japanese turn with Batman Ninja and it looks really cool!

In the trailer, we see Bruce Wayne transported to feudal Japan where he has to battle his nemesis, The Joker. Everything here is reimagined, from the aesthetics to the costumes and weapons. We also see his allies Nightwing, Red Hood, Red Robin, Robin, Alfred Pennyworth, and Catwoman, along with his foes Harley Quinn, Penguin, Poison Ivy, Two-Face, Clayface, Deathstroke, and Gorilla Grodd.
Batman Ninja is directed by Junpei Mizusaki, with character design by Takashi Okazaki, who created Afro Samurai.
The anime is set to premiere in 2018.
