The people of Bacolod have it all, from the sparkling beaches and the almost non-existent traffic, to dirt-cheap beers and the mouthwatering grub. Indeed, life is good in the City of Smiles.

Following the first round up of Bacolod’s Best Kept Secrets, here are ten more restaurants that represent the city’s gastronomic greatness.

10. The Farmhouse

A stylish cafe that uses organic and local produce? YES. PLEASE. Their crispy oyster mushrooms, malunggay pizza bites, and all-day breakfasts are basically proof that healthy can definitely be yummy, too.

9. Cafe Velo

Vintage bicycles, a vertical garden, and flowers adorn this cute little cafe that serves coffee, breakfasts, sandwiches, and just about everything divine. The food and drinks are as superb as the design details that it is so easy to fall in love with Cafe Velo.

Their locally brewed beers and killer chicken skin is a match made in heaven. I had actual tears. Sure, they have other topnotch dishes on their menu, too, but that skin…that chicken skin.

6. Nene and Carmen’s Snack House

A legend to all the students in La Salle Ave., their buttery spareribs got me through college. It’s affordable and it’s crazy good, it makes me wish I’m back in school in again. Okay, let’s not go there.

5. Kalan-an sa Dalan

Hold on, before you start getting technical (possibly hysterical), yes, Kalan-an sa Dalan is not in Bacolod. It is actually an hour away from Bacolod. But every Bacolodnon knows this is where you score the best pork chops. And if that means you have to travel to the edge of the world, in this case, Hinigaran, so be it.

2. Luisa’s

It’s the go-to spot for the classic fried chicken and garlic spareribs. And anyone who has sunk their teeth into one of these spareribs will tell you they are that gooood. A no-fuss joint with an old world feel, Luisa’s only care about good food. And we totally support it.

1. Diotay’s

With a well-deserved reputation for serving the freshest and the yummiest seafood feasts, Diotay’s is a force to be reckoned with. This pala-pala style eatery makes a phenomenal tinolang isda, kinilaw na tangigue, adobong pusit, butter garlic prawns, diwal and scallops. Enough said.
