If ever you’re in the mood for a staycation or if you’re visiting the south of Metro Manila, the place to check in is Azumi Boutique Hotel, a cozy yet stylish hotel in Alabang that’s both relaxed and in the middle of a bustling community.

Whether you want quiet time or access to the best of shopping and dining, Azumi is perfect for you.

Located along Market Street in the Madrigal Business Park of Muntinlupa, it is steps away from the shopping opportunities in Alabang Town Center and the dining destination that is Molito (Festival Mall, Commercenter, Westgate, and SM Southmall are just minutes away). And yet even if everything is within arm’s reach, Azumi provides a quiet atmosphere because it is located in a leafy neighborhood across Alabang-Zapote Road.

Azumi Hotel has a lot of character and it begins the moment you enter the lobby. It strikes a balance between being subdued and loud because of the strict gray palette, and yet it is bursting with portraits and ceramics, mostly featuring London.

Beyond the lobby are a branch of Romulo Cafe and Nail Spa.

Upstairs, there are 168 rooms for every kind of traveler. We tried the Corner Garden room, which has an excellent view of Alabang thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides of the room. It also has a spacious wraparound balcony for those moments when you want a breath of fresh air.

The rooms are also stylish. The floors, walls, and desk are made of wood, and there’s a large bed and daybed for relaxing in. The bathroom is also roomy, with different kinds of shower settings for the perfect bath. If you’re an introvert who prefers to stay indoors, Azumi’s rooms are perfect. All rooms come with balconies with comfy seating arrangements but the Corner Garden rooms have the biggest ones.

Those who enjoy swimming will be in for a treat as Azumi Boutique Hotel has an impressive pool. The infinity lap pool is on the roofdeck and features a stunning view of Muntinlupa. The most interesting thing about it is that it’s filled with saltwater, which is said to have benefits for the skin. Studies have shown that bathing in saltwater has benefits like balancing oil production, killing acne-causing bacteria, exfoliating dead skin cells, and more.

You can continue pampering yourself at Nail Spa, where you can get your nails done or get a hand or foot massage. The space is luxurious, with enough couches for groups of friends to get their favorite treatments.

Azumi Romulo Cafe

There’s no need to go far if you’re feeling hungry. Romulo Cafe is known for serving great food and their Alabang branch does not disappoint. The restaurant uses heirloom recipes developed by Virginia Romulo, the wife of the legendary statesman Carlos P. Romulo. Some of our favorite dishes were the Sinigang na Liempo, which serves twice-cooked liempo in tamarind broth that will make you kilig; the addictive Bangus Sisig; and the tart yet interesting Pomelo Salad, a mixture of greens, pomelo, and salted egg, drizzled with Baguio-strawberry vinaigrette.

Azumi Boutique Hotel is an excellent choice for every traveler because there’s something for everyone: good food, a place to get pampered, a relaxing pool with a stunning view of the south of Metro Manila, and a cozy room for resting in. For those seeking adventure, all you need to do is cross the road.
