A new Netflix comedy series is in the works, and actresses Awkwafina and Sandra Oh will be starring in it.
Although no title has been released as of yet, what we do know is that the award-nominated pair will be playing as sisters. According to a report by Deadline, Oh will be starring as a lonely recluse whose life is upended when her train-wreck of a sister (Awkwafina) vows to help fulfill a lifelong dream—being a contestant on her favorite game show—to mend their relationship.
The feature film will be produced by Gloria Sanchez’s Jessica Elbaum and Will Ferrel, along with Itay Reiss and Maggie Haskins from Artists First. Jen D’Angelo, the writer for the upcoming Hocus Pocus sequel on Disney Plus, will double as both producer and scriptwriter.
Oh is remembered for her role as Dr. Cristina Yang in the medical series Grey’s Anatomy, although she currently stars in the British spy thriller series Killing Eve.
Meanwhile, Awkwafina is known for starring as pickpocket Constance in Ocean’s 8 and as Goh Peik Lin in Crazy Rich Asians. After a successful first season of her series Awkwafina is Nora From Queens, she will next be seen in Breaking News in Yuba County, Disney/Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
