Awit Mo’y Paglaya: UP Fair Returns This November

More than a year after its last installment, UP Fair, the biggest student-run OPM concert and protest fair, is coming online for the first time ever this November 8 – 12.

This year’s theme, “Awit Mo’y Paglaya”, calls for the change of the times due to the pandemic — for the freedom and unity among students in the fight for their respective advocacies and for social change. The event is spearheaded by the UP Diliman University Student Council with the UP Advertising Core.

True to its tradition, the event will feature various OPM artists, both from the mainstream and the indie scene, as it amplifies the call for Ligtas na Balik Eskwela and academic freedom. Munimuni, 6cyclemind, Moonstar88, and Johnoy Danao are some of the acts that will be gracing the online benefit concert happening this November 12. Proceeds from the ticket sales from the event will be given to Tulong Isko and Kariton ng Maralita Network.

Aside from performances, there will also be an advocacy series that will discuss urgent campaigns within and beyond the UP community. These include the fight for press freedom, national sovereignty, and voter’s empowerment. The pandemic response will also be in the spotlight, highlighting the concerns of healthcare workers and the call for a better pandemic response. The advocacy booths will run from November 8 to 11, live for free on UP Fair’s official Facebook page.
