Avengers 2: Age of Ultron Trailer – 7 Easter Eggs to Get Everyone Excited

The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron trailer got leaked much earlier than scheduled, prompting Marvel to release the full-length trailer early (yippee!) Have you seen it yet? If not, here is The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron trailer in all of its glory:

Now that you’ve watched it, watch it again. And again. And again. I’ve practically lost count of how many times I’ve watched it myself, but now that I’ve seen it countless times, there are several things I’d love to touch on – 7 easter eggs in particular that got my geeky senses tingling for more.

7. Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch… with Ultron.

Avengers 2: Age of Ultron Trailer

So far in superhero-movie land, we’ve only really properly watched Quicksilver in “X-Men: Days of Future Past“, but he also makes an appearance with Scarlet Witch at the end credits of “Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier”. This really isn’t surprising given that they are siblings and all, but in the “Avengers 2: Age of Ultron” trailer, they are standing with Ultron. This in itself says a lot. The big question is: will they stay evil or will they eventually realize their ways?

Throughout the trailer, we also get to see shots of their powers: Scarlet Witch’s witchcraft and Quicksilver’s super speed. Plus, there’s that awesome shot of Scarlet Witch screaming, which could count as an Easter Egg for “No more mutants” in The House of M. I don’t think this movie has anything to do with that, but it was just nice to witness the scream in the trailer anyway. Also, I absolutely love the casting of these two. Aaron Taylor-Johnson aka Kick-Ass and Elizabeth Olsen aka the younger sister of the Olsen twins? Yes, please!

6. Nick Fury’s Return.

After “Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier”, Nick Fury pretty much vanished to hunt down Hydra’s remaining cells. However, it seems that he is back in action in Avengers 2! Is he coming back to S.H.I.E.L.D.? Does he even have a big role? Is he gonna die? Okay, that’s pretty extreme, but I’m still super excited. It’s Samuel L. Jackson with an eyepatch, after all.

5. Black Widow and The Hulk Holding Hands.

Rumors have been going around that Black Widow and The Hulk will be building up a relationship and all that. I’ve never been a fan of love stories in superhero movies, but I think the relationship aspect with The Hulk is pretty exciting. How would that work? Could it even work? What with all of the other shots of Bruce Banner struggling within himself in the trailer itself, it would be awesome if Black Widow can tame The Hulk down when needed.

4. TARDIS in Background.

Not really Marvel-related, but: TARDIS spotted by Whovians in one of the shots in the trailer. :p

3. Andy Serkis.

Boom. It’s Andy Serkis. Now, everyone knows that he’s playing a villain in “Avengers 2: Age of Ultron”, but which villain is he playing? From previous movie-watching experience, you can never go wrong with Andy Serkis, so I’m pretty excited that he’s in it. I’m also pretty excited because of all of the evidence pointing to the fact that he’ll be playing Ulysses Klaw. Why do I assume that?

Well, in the earlier part of the trailer, we see Ultron forging himself a new suit of armour. Fine, that’s not a big deal. But this next Easter Egg may convince you of more:

2. Captain America’s Broken Shield.

Avengers 2: Age of Ultron Trailer

Captain America’s shield is made from vibranium and adamantium compound. In other words, it’s pretty damn strong. But still, in the Avengers 2 trailer, you see what seems to be Captain America’s broken shield. This just means that Ultron most probably forged a new body with the same strong metal – a metal which just happens to be one of the key elements to Klaw’s work.

If this is the case, then could Marvel be setting up a Black Panther appearance in Phase Three of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe – or, even better, will he appear in this film? Some scenes in the trailer are set in Wakanda, after all, since this is where vibranium can be found. It just so happens that Wakanda is also Black Panther’s home. Ahhh. Is everything finally coming together or am I overanalysing this trailer far too much?

1. “Pinocchio” Song.

Avengers 2: Age of Ultron Trailer

One of the things that I loved the most about the trailer is how they used a song from Disney’s “Pinocchio” as the main song of the trailer. This isn’t just because I’m a Disney lover, but also because it is oh-so-fitting for the underlying theme of the whole movie. Ultron’s speech in the trailer obviously points to how Tony Stark used to control him like a puppet and he’s definitely not having any of that anymore. On a deeper level, though, it could also point to how strings connect people’s emotions and since Ultron is a robot without any emotions, he definitely has a greater edge at winning this war.

The aforementioned points aside, there are a lot of other geekgasms in the movie, like the shots of Iron Man’s Hulkbuster armour (badassery x 1000!), the Ultron robots and Black Widow’s awesome motorcycle. Love love love! May 2015 couldn’t get here any sooner! What are you most excited for in “Avengers 2: Age of Ultron”? 🙂
