A lot of Filipinos simply live for musicals – me included – and the musical that started it all for me was ‘The Sound of Music’. I remember that it came in a pack of 2 VHS tapes when I was a kid and I watched (and rewinded) it religiously. The last time we got to watch ‘The Sound of Music’ here in Manila was in 2011. Well, now, the musical will be back in Manila once again and the search for the next Von Trapp children is about to go on!
Sadly, there is no casting call for Liezl (yes, I still believe I can play the part of a 17-year-old turning 18-year-old girl :p), but if you have any kids who could play any of the other Von Trapp kids – that’s Friedrich (14), Louisa (13), Kurt (11), Brigitta (9), Marta (7) and Gretl (6)! – then don’t miss this chance to audition this May for the next run of ‘The Sound of Music’ in September.
Of course, applicants are expected to have a good level of skill in acting, singing and dancing, and fit the height and voice requirements mentioned in the poster above. The online form can be found at www.soundofmusic.com.ph, and the pre-registration sessions will be happening on May 6 and 7 at The Theater, Solaire.
This is a great way for kids to jumpstart a career in theatre! Don’t miss out! 😀
