Ateneo Special Education Society (SPEED)’s Sparkle: Reigniting the Fire of Acceptance amidst Diversity

Last year, Sparkle made a comeback as one of the major advocacy projects of the Ateneo Special Education Society (SPEED). Persons With Special Needs (PWSNs) from partner institutions bond with volunteers from inside and outside Ateneo. This year, get ready for engaging activity booths, eye-catching inflatables, and mesmerizing talent shows. There won’t be any dull moments in this fair because Sparkle brings joy to every participant.

SPARKLE2019

Sparkle engages volunteers in cultivating positive insights for a more inclusive society. Through this year’s theme of Sesame Street, Sparkle emphasizes acceptance despite differences. By getting to know different PWSNs, volunteers cultivate love and acceptance in society.

From art to music to sports, the PWSN community has many skills and talents worthy of recognition. Unfortunately, some people define the sector based on appearances or behavior. Looking beyond these descriptions of the PWSN sector might be a challenge for some. Yet, Sparkle allows volunteers to recognize the capabilities of our PWSN friends.

Sparkle has been, and continues to be, an avenue for those interested to take that first step towards a more inclusive society. Join Ateneo SPEED this November 9, 2019, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM in Bellarmine Field at Ateneo de Manila University.
