Ateneo Mathematics Society Launches Sipnayan 2026

The Ateneo Mathematics Society (AMS) is ready to set sail with Sipnayan 2026: To the Seven Seas, a nationwide workshop and competition series, at the Ateneo de Manila University this February 2026.

Sipnayan 2026 continues AMS’s commitment to supporting students from schools all over the Philippines by fostering a vibrant community that promotes mathematical appreciation, collaboration, and excellence.

The workshop series, open to Grade School and Junior High School students, will take place on February 7, 2026. Meanwhile, the Senior High School, Junior High School, and Grade School competitions are scheduled on February 14, 21, and 28, 2026, respectively, at the Leong Hall Auditorium, Ateneo de Manila University.

Workshop Series
Designed as both an introduction and a refresher, the Sipnayan 2026 workshop series aims to familiarize participants with the competition format, as well as the problem-solving approaches and ideas featured in the event.

In this year’s iteration, students will experience lectures and guided problem-solving sessions on selected topics in algebra, number theory, geometry, and combinatorics. Participants will be given opportunities to engage with Olympiad-style problems while strengthening foundational skills.

In addition, the Junior High School workshop will feature a student speaker who will share insights through their journey as a former mathlete and a current student of the Ateneo’s Mathematics Department.

Competition Series
Anchored on this year’s pirate-themed adventures, Sipnayan 2026 will challenge teams composed of three students each as they chart their course through questions in algebra, combinatorics, number theory, geometry, calculus, logic, and other mathematical topics.

Each division’s competition will comprise an individual written Elimination Round, followed by a team oral Semifinal Round and a team oral Final Round. The Final Round will test not only mathematical mastery but also strategy, as teams make use of unique power-ups to gain an edge in their quest for victory.

The champion team will receive Php 10,000, while the first runner-up team and second runner-up team will receive Php 6,000 and Php 4,000, respectively. Additionally, the highest scorer for the Elimination Round will receive Php 1,000.
