Ateneo Entablado Presents: ANG JUAN TAMBAN ni Malou Jacob
Ateneo ENTABLADO (ENterteynment para sa Tao, Bayan, LAnsangan, at DiyOs) concludes its 31st season, “Personalan Na!”, with Ang Juan Tamban ni Malou Jacob. This contemporary classic by Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) writer Malou Jacob is especially adapted by Guelan Valera-Luarca and will be directed by Charles Yee. It runs from January 14-24, 2014.
In the eyes of many, Juan Tamban is a spectacle, someone you can’t help but look at and be disgusted of, a street child who eats rats, cockroaches, and lizards to earn a living. In the eyes of the authority, he is a juvenile criminal guilty of snatching. In the eyes of the academe, he is an oddity worthy of a special case study, a case which Marina Torres, a graduate student-social worker, reluctantly accepts. Will Marina be able to make an objective study or will her heart triumph over the mind when she becomes closer to the harsh realities of injustice and abuse that is Juan’s life? Is she really helping the child or just helping herself?
