Architectural Students’ Association of the Philippines, Incorporated (ASAPHIL,Inc.), is inviting everyone to join their annual symposium, Arch 360, entitled “Kasangayan: Tradition in Today’s Environmental Trajectory.” This webinar will be held on November 16, Monday 1 – 4:30 PM via Zoom and through the FB Live simulcast.
The speaker lineup includes Ar. Joy Martinez-Onozawa from Philippine Green Building Initiative, and Ar. Sarah Jane Pahimnayan from Escuela Taller de Filipinas Foundation, Inc., and Ar. Arts Serrano from one/zero design co.
This year’s installment of Arch 360 will focus on discussing the use and importance of Philippine traditional methods and materials in response to today’s environmental challenges. Building and construction are responsible for 39% of all carbon emissions in the world (UN Environment Agency, 2019). As students and professionals from the field, we have a role to play in this global issue. Arch 360 aims to raise awareness and promote the role of architecture in this timely topic.
Arch360 is short for Architecture in 360°. It aims to explore the various facets of the field through a series of symposia and discourses among professionals and undergraduates. Previous legs in the series included lectures in the Manila Metropolitan Theater and workshops in the Escuela Taller Campus, and have tackled topics such as the Filipino identity, community-inclusive architecture, and urban renewal in Metro Manila.
