Are Quarantine Passes Still Required During the MECQ?

With the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) coming into effect in a few days, several people have been wondering what this means for quarantine passes. Well, according to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), quarantine passes will still be required in all areas in the NCR.

Since movement is still limited in the NCR, quarantine passes will still be necessary. DILG Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya reminds us that going out and general movement is still limited. “Limitado pa rin po ang paglabas at pag galaw ng ating mga kababayan,” he says.

Some local government units have only released one quarantine pass per household in order to minimize the amount of people leaving their homes. However, for those who have to go to work or access essential services, quarantine passes will need to be amended for the new guidelines.

Police Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar also assures that the authorities at their respective checkpoints will use “common sense, as well as humanitarian and medical consideration” when checking on people leaving their homes.
