The distinctive and resident student dance group of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, the PUP Maharlika Dance Artists, is thrilled to announce their 1st ever online concert entitled “Antigo” in celebration of their 40th Season on their official Facebook Page (PUP Maharlika Dance Artists) and YouTube Channel (PUP Maharlika Dance Artists Official). Friday, October 1, 2021, at 7:00 in the evening.Â
ANTIGO accentuates the quality of celebrating our cultural heritage and appreciating the beauty and uniqueness of numerous memoirs and nostalgic events from the past in which help oneself to be developed into a whole, mindful and unique individual through the passion of dancing. While it gives a sense of nostalgia, it speaks about the part of whom we are by shaping our identity. Our expression of our identity communicates what we value to others, thus highlighting our priorities and values.Â
“We are two weeks before our concert when the pandemic strikes in. Then everyone heard of the pandemic and various protocols made by the government. At first, we thought, how about Antigo? All the hard work, the days when others can’t sleep because of the preparations, are they all just for wasted? We moved the date considering everyone’s safety. And now, everyone is eager to bring it back on stage- virtually! We had a great time preparing for this. We are in high spirits because finally: we can share this humble yet remarkable nostalgic concert and extend our excitement to our community. This breakthrough is the result of our passion and dedication to this craft. Mula sa iyo, para sa bayan,” said Executive Chairman Sheena Babista.
