We now know Angelina Jolie today as the 41-year-old actress, mother, philanthropist, and professor.
Yet almost 16 years ago, Angelina was battling a rather shady image that was marred by accusations of drug abuse and alcohol.
Angelina, who was 24 when the first Tomb Raiders movie was made, was so keen on being cast as the popular video game character that she volunteered to take drug tests to prove that she was “worthy” of being cast.
The studio, Paramount Pictures, did make her undergo random drug tests to clear her reputation.
The surprising revelation came from a new biography book on Paramount Pictures boss Sherry Lansing. Sherry, who cast Angelina as Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider film, had apparent concerns about the starโs stability shortly before her first marriage to Billy Bob Thornton.
The Tomb Raider franchise is getting a reboot this year, with Alicia Vikander taking over the role of Lara Croft.
