On Friday, the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) announced that Albay will be host of the Palarong Pambansa 2016.
Education Secretary Armin Luistro said:
(Rough translation: We hope that you continue pushing through the sports programs in your respective provinces and we hope that you can join us, along with the DepEd and the PSC, on other sports events. We have Batang Pinoy, Philippine National Games, and other programs.)
The host was decided based on the voting results by the Palarong Pambansa Board, which is headed by the education secretary.
Albay won over Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, which is its sole competitor to host the annual students’ sports games.
