According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor David Arquette has confirmed the news that he will be reprising his role as Sheriff Dewey Riley — a character who has appeared in all four Scream movies.

“I am thrilled to be playing Dewey again and to reunite with my Scream family, old and new,” said Arquette. “Scream has been such a big part of my life, and for both the fans and myself, I look forward to honoring Wes Craven’s legacy.”

The new film will sadly be the first in the franchise to be directed by someone other than horror master Wes Craven who passed away in 2015. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of the filmmaking group Radio Silence will be helming it instead.

It has yet to be revealed what the plot will be about but fans can rest easy knowing that some of the original filmmakers are being tapped to help create this sequel.
