COVID-19 pandemic brought about a lot of uncertainties, and one of these is visible in our stock market where stock prices become more volatile. Since most people are risk-averse, they chose to give up investments during the peak of the pandemic. This leads to the relevance of starting a conversation in choosing the best stock to invest in.
After its first successful installation in 2014, the UP Organization of Business Economics Majors (UP OBEM) will once again hold Stock Right Now (SRN), a seminar series and stock pitch competition that aims to bring together college students nationwide to expose them to the Philippine business and economic environment.
SRN 2022 will offer a webinar on effective stock pitching for the general audience, and a stock pitch competition for undergraduate students. It will be held on April 23 and May 7, 2022, via several online platforms, primarily Zoom.
Through SRN, participants will be given the chance to practice their stock pitching abilities, get direct exposure to potential employers, and be mentored by top corporate giants in the stock industry.

April 23
Reach for the PITCH!: A Stock Right Now Webinar on Effective Stock Pitching
A two-part webinar that provides undergraduates nationwide a better understanding of effective stock pitching. The event also acts as an orientation and training course for the participants in preparation for the Stock Pitch Competition. This year’s lectures will cover the basics of the stock market and an introduction to how to conduct fundamental analysis effectively.

Stock Pitch Competition
It serves as Stock Right Now’s main event wherein teams composed of undergraduate students nationwide compete to harness and showcase their stock pitching skills to a panel of esteemed judges from the stock industry. Competing teams shall observe a chosen listed equity in the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) for a week and pitch them using the insights learned from the webinar.
Of course, great prizes await the winners thanks to its partners and sponsors.
The overall champion, first and second runner up would receive a cash prize amounting to Php 10,000, Php 3,000, and Php 2,000 respectively. They would also be rewarded with a fast-tracked internship application at Philippine Stock Exchange, COL Financial subsidiary company, and Investa; an exclusive masterclass with Edward K Lee (founder and chairman of COL Financial Group); and many more!
