This December, Infinite Cantina will be mounting Ad Infinitum: Two Plays in Memoriam. The offering features staged readings of two surrealist plays, Lost Tongue: A Dream in One Act by Bea Racoma and The Black Bordello by Jay Crisostomo IV. Ad Infinitum aims to highlight the dreamlike texts and performances by its ensemble of actors.

In Lost Tongue, a play that leans into the tenderness of grief, a Woman is haunted by a Spectre whose life is deeply intertwined with hers. She does not know what exactly the Spectre wants from her, or what exactly she needs from the Spectre. All she knows is that the Spectre is here to stay. As she explores a changing landscape of dreams, memories, and what-ifs, the Woman is pushed to confront her grief and sense of self.
In The Black Bordello, a man, with nothing to lose and on the run from the law, stumbles into an abandoned bar. Strange, the place feels utterly familiar to him, as if he lived there once. He meets an alluringly beautiful barmaid and her silent assistant. Drinks and conversation reveal that these creatures aren’t even human at all. Misery is on tap, and the bar’s open all night.
Lost Tongue: A Dream in One Act stars Bea Racoma as the Woman and Ranz Aganan as the Spectre, with Cholo Ledesma, Joy Delos Santos, Iman Ampatuan, Maia Dapul, and Senanda as the Chorus.
Meanwhile, The Black Bordello features Paul Jake Paule as Man, Bea Racoma as Alice, and Vino Mabalot as Hugo.
Forming the creative team of the two plays are Bea Racoma and Jay Crisostomo IV as Directors, EJ Ramos as Lighting Designer, and Alyssa Clare and Kiefer Francisco as Sound Designers for Lost Tongue and The Black Bordello respectively.
Ad Infinitum: Two Plays in Memoriam will run for two weekends at Dark Roast Coffeehouse, Maginhawa, Quezon City. Lost Tongue: A Dream in One Act will have shows on December 5 at 7:30 PM and December 6 at 3:00 PM and 7:30 PM, while The Black Bordello will have shows on December 12 at 7:30 PM and December 13 at 3:00 PM and 7:30 PM.
