A girl was disqualified from playing soccer because she “looked like a boy”

A girls’ soccer team cut their hair to show support for a fellow team member after a tournament official disqualified her because he thought she was a boy. The reason? The girl had short hair.

But it wasn’t just short-hair sporting Mili Hernandez that was out of the game — her entire soccer team was disqualified, too.

The 8-year-old Mili told a local news show that having short hair was her personal decision.

Of course, Millie can wear her hair however she wants, regardless of whatever reason.

As she said:

“When my hair starts to grow, I put it short because I’ve always had short hair. I didn’t like my hair long. Just because I look like a boy doesn’t mean I am a boy. They don’t have a reason to kick the whole club out.”

Sometimes kids make a lot more sense than adults.
