For those who aren’t familiar with the series, “Fruits Basket” is about Tohru Honda, an orphan girl who moves into the Soma household in which all 12 members of the family are possessed by the animals of the Chinese Zodiac and turn into their animal forms when physically weak, stressed and anxious, and whenever they are hugged by someone of the opposite sex. Tohru then begins to help the Soma family heal from their emotional wounds while also learning new things about herself.

The reboot ran for three seasons, the first two of which contained 25 episodes each while the third had 13 episodes — significantly much longer than the original aired in 2001 which only ran for 26 episodes.

The spin-off series won’t be focusing on Tohru or any of the members of the Soma household, however. Instead, it will shed light on Tohru’s parents, Katsuya and Kyoko Honda, and the life they lived prior to their death. fans of the “Fruits Basket” franchise would know just how significant the impact of the way they had raised Tohru was to Tohru’s personality and the way she relates with the other characters, so this spin-off will definitely lead us to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for them.

The production of this spin-off will reportedly begin in 2022 and will most likely premiere in 2023.
