A Feast of Wonderful Asian Flavors at Makan Makan

Aside from Filipino food, I’ve always been a fan of Asian cuisine. The flavors are one of a kind but still having a hint of “Filipino” in them. While staying at Hotel H20, I discovered Makan Makan Asian Food Village.

Located at the 2nd floor of Hotel H20 and Manila Ocean Park, the restaurant is the perfect place to have breakfast, lunch, or dinner with your friends and family. They also have a weekend buffet special that is perfect for thosew visiting the park or having a staycation at the hotel.

The first thing we noticed at Makan Makan is their outside seating area where you have the perfect view of Manila Bay and its beautiful sunset. The menu is pretty cool too; aside from the buffet, the ala carte orders are pretty affordable and one order is good for sharing.

We started our meal with Makan Makan’s specialty, the Chicken Satay. It can be either pork or beef served with their signature peanut sauce. You can order either the 5-piece or 10-piece set.

We also had the Dimsum Platter that has hakaw, siomai, and fried wonton. Super tasty to pair with their dipping sauce with chili!

One of our favorites from everything that was served was the laksa. A flavorful delight of rice noodles, chili, seafood stock, coconut milk, and topped with shrimp and fish cakes.

If you like seafood, you will never get enough of the Steamed Fish with Special Thai sauce!

Asian food is also known for that spicy kick we all love. Makan Makan’s Sambal Squid is perfect to answer those cravings.

But the star of the show is the Crispy Cereal Prawns. The prawns are pretty big, stir fried in butter and cereals. We ate all of it, including the head!

All these are super tasty and are perfect to pair with rice. Luckily, Makan Makan has the Yang Chao Fried Rice that has a serving for 2-3 or 4-5 people. And that’s just one of the rice offerings they have. They also have crabmeat, salted fish, garlic, seafood, chicken, nasi goreng, bagoong, pineapple, and plain rice.

To finish off our scrumptious meal, we had dessert. Because there is always room for dessert!

We had the Mango Pudding with Sago. Though I fancy fresh fruits more to end a meal, the mango pudding in this dessert is actually pretty good–it tastes like real mangoes!

Makan Makan will surely hit the spot especially if you are craving Asian cuisine. They carry food from all over Asia: Singaporean, Malaysian, Indonesian, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, and of course, Filipino!

To top if all off, we loved the ambience here. An open kitchen sits in the middle of the restaurant, like a little entertainment as you watch your food being prepared fresh for you.

Bring your family and friends–it’s always a feast here!
