Manila FAME: Philippines’ Premiere Design and Lifestyle Event

The Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) has recently featured top-notch artistry and craftsmanship that is truly Filipino and undoubtedly world class at the 30th Manila FAME last March 14 to 17 at the SMX Convention Center.

Now on its third decade, Manila FAME has been a platform for the latest innovation and design trends in furniture and home furnishings, holiday decor, gifts, arts and crafts, and fashion compliments like costume jewelry, footwear and leather goods. Not to mention that this is the only trade show in the country that is recognized by UFI, the Global Association of Exhibition Industry.

Over the years the exposition has been the arena for up and coming designers, both furniture and fashion, to be known in the global market. Manila FAME is where they offer buyers and visitors more show features and a wide array of exceptionally designed products.

“Now that economists are tagging the Philippines as the brightest economic star in Asia, we also want the Philippines, through Manila FAME, to be the creative epicenter in the region as we gather emerging and established talents from various creative fields and put further focus on banding of Design Philippines by putting various features in the event,” said Rosvi C. Gaetos, Executive Director of CITEM.

For the recent edition of the said trade show the over-all theme was “The Millennial Home” and internationally renowned furniture designer Budji Layug was tapped to be the creative director for the special feature. Layug worked with seasoned designers as well as young and emerging Filipino talents to create magnificent products that will attract the new generation of consumers.

With the Philippines tagged as the “New Tiger”in the Southeast Asia region trade expositions like Manila FAME will help grow the exports for furniture. Filipino’s craftsmanship is without a doubt a world class, artisans take pride in showing a product that is made entirely in the Philippines using native raw materials.

One thing that I liked in this year’s Manila FAME is the appreciation for another art form, fashion designing. A separate trade hall was curated just for fashion goods, and just like the furniture downstairs they are equally beautiful. From the local fashion designers to eco-friendly fashion boutiques to young entrepreneurs the floor was filled with booths that showcased the talent of the artisans.

“We are constantly reinventing and always providing buyers and visitors something to look forward to aside from the products, thus, the special events and features during the show,” said Gaetos. Manila FAME continues to be a popular sourcing destination for the recognized leaders in home and fashion lifestyle products in Asia.

Manila FAME, over the years, has metamorphosed into the world’s favorite sourcing hub for unique designs and outstanding products that have found their way into the homes of notable personalities, both local and international.
