8 Ways to Get More Matches on Tinder

8. Have a Decent (Non-Fake) Profile Picture

Preferably with your face in it. While most people appreciate artsy shots in dim lighting with cool angles, your profile picture should ALWAYS clearly show your face. A picture that looks like you’re trying to hide something makes you look suspicious. Whenever I see a picture that is solely of someone’s back, I immediately swipe left.

Also, make sure it’s a picture of you at your best – be it smiling, all suited or dressed up, or just looking plain adorable.

7. Include Your Real College or Your Job

Believe it or not, working at “Edi Sa Puso Mo” or “Krusty Krab” are not attractive qualities. Please put your real college or job. It lets people who study or work nearby figure out where you are. It also has the nice effect of making sure you don’t look like a bum (even if you are).

6. Be Witty

If you have a decent sense of humor, feel free to be witty in your profile. Not only will this  make the person who’s reading it laugh, but it will also make them want to talk to you more. Wit can refer to anything from self-deprecating jokes (“has ABS – A Beautiful Soul”) or a funny pick-up line. Sometimes, funny people on Tinder are even more attractive than people with actual abs.

5. Use Your Real Age

SwipeRight5

There’s this weird trend where people put fake ages on their profile, then in their description, they write: “18, not 25.” Typically followed by a “lit” emoji. Unless you’re underage – in which case you shouldn’t even be on Tinder in the first place – make sure to put your real age. If ever you end up meeting someone, please don’t make your real age an awkward surprise.

4. Maximize Tinder’s Features

SwipeRight4

When you open Tinder’s profile settings, you will notice a few sections you can fill up. You can link your Instagram account to it, so it shows your latest photos; and you can link your Spotify account, so people can see what your anthem is and what you’ve been recently listening to. Make sure you use both of these things to your advantage. They give people an insight to who you are; plus, it lets you get away with posting more than six photos on your profile.

3. Include (Some) Hobbies and Interests

SwipeRight3

If you’re a hardcore fan of something or have a dedicated hobby, make sure it’s on your profile – especially if it’s something that you know a lot of other people love. Interests like Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, hip-hop music or watching indie movies all make great conversation starters. Just make sure you don’t put too many of your hobbies and interests on there. If you give too much away, chances are there won’t be anything left to find out.

2. State Your Height (Or a Way to Find Out)

SwipeRight2

You don’t necessarily have to put your literal height in your description (though if you want to, it’s not a bad idea). However, it’s a good idea to post a picture of yourself where we can guess what your height is – whether it’s in comparison to someone else or next to an inanimate object. Whether you prefer short or tall people, it’s always a helpful thing to know.

1. Put Pictures of You in Action

What do you love doing? Skydiving? Singing? Playing with your dog? Maybe even your job as a doctor or entrepreneur? If there’s something you’re passionate about doing, make sure you include a picture of yourself doing that. It’s already incredibly attractive to know someone is passionate about something, but it’s even more appealing to see that person in action.
