8 Things to Do After You Get Vaccinated

We’re taking several steps closer to an even better normal now that vaccines are becoming more widely available. We can worry less because we’re better protected. But just because you got your vaccination doesn’t mean you can go all out and let your guards down. We still need to practice health and safety protocols. This is especially true in the hours and days after getting jabbed.

Did you just get your vaccination recently? Here are 8 things you can do to take care of yourself post-vaccination:

Stay indoors for the recommended time

Vaccines don’t work right away and will need time for them to work. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, you are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after taking your final shot (the second in a two-dose series or the first in a one-dose series). The World Health Organization added, “For the first fourteen days after getting a vaccination, you do not have significant levels of protection, then it increases gradually.”

Rest

Experiencing side effects is normal and means that your body is building its immunity. But it happens differently to people so it’s also possible that you won’t have any. Common ones include pain, swelling and redness on the arm, chills or mild fever, tiredness, headaches, and joint pain or muscle aches. These usually go away after a few days. In the meantime, get some rest and avoid strenuous activities.

Since the pandemic started, people have been turning to Vitamin C and Zinc to strengthen their immune systems. But did you know that a mix of Zinc, Vitamins A, C, and E is a superior combination that’s proven to help strengthen immunity?

Don’t take any chances and help build better protection for your health with Multivitamins + Mineral (Conzace), a multivitamin brand that aims to help provide you with *stronger immunity (*refers to the ingredient combination of multivitamins versus plain vitamin C). Multivitamins + Mineral (Conzace) contains a superior combination of Zinc, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E. These vitamins and minerals are known for aiding the body’s production of white blood cells to help strengthen one’s immunity. White blood cells work to eliminate foreign microbes like bacteria, germs, and viruses in the body, helping protect you against sickness.

Make sure you’re drinking lots of fluids

This applies to everyone, every day. Make sure you’re drinking lots of water. Being dehydrated will give you fatigue and will make you feel dizzy and lightheaded. We’re sure you don’t want to amplify the discomfort of side effects so drink your fluids!

Catch up on your to-watch or to-read list

If you took a leave from work (we’re hoping you did) so you can properly recover, use the time to catch up on your to-watch list on Netflix! [To add latest titles before publishing]. You can also use this time to catch up on some good reading.

Getting fully vaccinated does not mean you will be immune from COVID-19. According to the Department of Health, you can still get COVID-19 after getting jabbed. DOH said, “vaccines can protect you from getting symptomatic (mild, moderate, and severe COVID-19). Further, it can prevent hospitalization and death from the disease.” That means you still need to follow basic health and safety protocols. These include consistently wearing your face mask and shield, staying in outdoor and well-ventilated spaces, social distancing, and frequent handwashing.

Keep your vaccination card

Your vaccination card is important because if anything happens to you that’s related to the vaccine, they can trace the lot number that’s included in your card. In the future, it’s also possible that you’ll need it for travel, work, and school. What we do know for sure is that there are restaurants that offer discounts and freebies for those who’ve gotten their jabs. All they need to do is show their vaccination card.

It’s tempting to have the card laminated to protect it, but professionals may need to update it in the future, such as if you will need a booster shot. To be sure, keep it in a safe place where it won’t get damaged. You can also take a photo of the front and back.
