Two months from now, the region’s largest pop culture convention, AsiaPOP Comicon, is going to take place, and everyone is excited! Recent posts on AsiaPOP Comicon’s social media sites have been boasting incredible headliners like Finn Jones and Jessica Henwick from Marvel’s Iron Fist series, and several more local and international graphic and cosplay artists. Needless to say, people are getting hyped!!

When it comes to events like APCC, though, it is easy for people to assume that people who can/will attend are only limited to serious fanatics, self-proclaimed geeks, or superhero junkies. While this may be true to some extent, the fact is that Comicon can appeal to practically anybody and everybody, as long as you’re open to creativity, art, imagination, and most importantly, pop culture.

With everything AsiaPOP embraces and celebrates, here are 5 things to look forward to for fanatics, first-timers, and even non comic fans.

5 Reasons Why Even Non-Comic Fanatics Should Experience AsiaPOP Comicon

5. Fun and Interactive Activities

Similar to the past four years, several booths will be set up at the SMX Halls to feature many interactive activities. Whether these booths are selling merchandise, promoting projects, or featuring something new, there is no telling what you can learn or expose yourself to, as long as you keep an open mind. Who knows, meeting all sorts of fans and pop culture lovers might bring out your inner comic book nerd!

4. Exclusive Content

As always, Halls M and N might be back to reveal exclusive Marvel and Netflix content. While no official words have been released yet as to what could be shown within the two-day convention, there is always hope, especially given APCC’s partnerships with Marvel and Netflix from the previous years. So for continuous supporters and possibly new fans, rest assured this will be your chance to get the latest content first (and straight from the source).

3. The Cosplay Challenge

With another year of Comicon comes another year of CAGE, the Cosplay Authority Global Challenge. This highly anticipated part of the convention brings together the country’s best cosplayers together who work tirelessly for months on end to conceptualize and put their work together.

In fact, the CAGE has become such an essential aspect of APCC that they have even brought in acclaimed cosplayers Canvas Cosplay and Leon Chiro to judge the event, and they have several prizes in store for the winners, including cash and goods that are worth almost $18,000!

This spectacle is a treat for both participants, as well as attendees of APCC. Just to see the amazing creations of these players and to marvel at the work put in is already an enjoyable treat for everyone.

2. Meet International Artists

So far, APCC has confirmed 7 amazingly talented comic book, graphic novel, and animated artists from all around the world. Names like Alex Sinclair, the Philippines’ own Lan Medina, Mike McKone, and Phil Noto are on the list, as well as Brian Ian Muir, Whilce Portacio, and Simone Legno.

Some of these artists have established themselves with Marvel, DC Comics, Disney, and other industries that celebrate the art these artists are creating. With these guys lined up, there is no telling what kind of knowledge and appreciation you will gain from their experience!

1. The Experience in Itself

As you can see, there is so much to look forward to at APCC this year, for fans, and even for those who are just curious about the culture of Comicon. This 4th year promises so much culture and greatness, all thanks to the amazing talents by the artists being celebrated, and it truly pays homage to the original conventions held in San Diego, CA. So whether this is your first, second, or hundredth time at a comic convention, just know that this culmination of pop culture and art is something you definitely do not want to miss!
