I recently wrote an article about the 7 characters I couldn’t wait to see in X-Men: Apocalypse. Well, our screening with PMCM Events Management and Resorts World Manila has come and gone, and I am sad to say that more than half of those characters I had waited for completely let me down. 🙁
On the upside, though, while X-Men: Apocalypse was nothing near as epic as I had hoped it would be, I have to admit they had some amazing scenes in there that really made my jaw drop. Here are my 5 favorite ones (obviously, this means SPOILERS AHEAD!!!):

5 of the Most Stunning Scenes in X-Men: Apocalypse
5. Quicksilver Saves the School Kids
Without a doubt, Quicksilver stole the spotlight in the last X-Men movie and he doesn’t fail to wow us in this one in a similar manner. Not only do we get a generous amount of slow-mo Quicksilver in action in this scene, but we also get to sing along to Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics while we’re at it.
4. Giant Apocalypse vs. Professor X
Sadly, Apocalypse is just regular-sized in most of the movie, but we do get a nice glimpse of his potential as what I shall call Giant Apocalypse when he mind-battles with Professor X. I just wish Apocalypse was bigger than he was in most of the movie, in general.
3. Magneto’s Family in the Woods
Seeing Magneto as a human with emotions always warms my heart and that happened all the more in X-Men: Apocalypse. That scene in the woods, though… when you already know something’s about to go down… that broke my heart so incredibly much, I cried a bit too much in the cinemas. Michael Fassbender seems to have that effect to me. Great actor. Great actor.
2. Quicksilver vs. Apocalypse
Just when you thought you already got your Quicksilver fill of the day, he comes back and kicks Apocalypse’s butt for a bit. Great scene.
1. The Final Jean Grey Scene
I don’t think anyone’s gonna argue with me on this one: the best scene in X-Men: Apocalypse is definitely the final Jean Grey scene. When we get to that scene, we kinda already know what’s coming and yet, when it happens, it’s still unbelievably awesome. You go, Sansa Stark!
It’s really too bad they hyped up the characters so much that I ended up expecting more from this movie, but I have to say: the scenes mentioned above made up for it a little. As always, make sure to wait until the end of the credits for a bonus scene! 😉
