Craving Chinese? Check out Mai Wei Fang, a restaurant that will give you a taste of China!

Mai Wei Fang, which means ‘wheat mill room’ boasts of its unique flour which is imported from China. Almost all of their recipes make use of this special Chinese flour. Chinese chefs even went to the Philippines to teach genuine Chinese cuisine to the staff, adding to the authenticity of the food they offer. Everything is fresh in Mai Wei Fang–you can even see your food being prepared right before your eyes! Most of their dishes are also made for those who are on-the-go, so there’s no need to worry about being late for work or school!

Here are some of their must-try dishes!

Shao Bing Sandwich 2

5. Shao Bing Sandwich (Php 185)

A personal favorite of mine, the Shao Bing Sandwich is made of scrambled eggs, green onions, you tiao, and pork floss. It has an uncommon crunchy type of bread that, together with the fillings, make a fantastic combination! This bread is exclusively offered in Mai Wei Fang which is inspired by Shanghai.

The pork floss is also a great addition which adds even more flavor to the dish. It is a full and tasty meal perfect for breakfast! This delectable treat will surely make you look forward to mornings!

Cong You Bing Sandwic

4. Cong You Bing Sandwich (Php 175)

This is a green onion pancake filled with scrambled eggs and onions. It is similar to the Shao Bing Sandwich except that the latter has pork floss and is made of a different type of bread. Cong You Bing has a crunchy but thin outer layer. If you want to have a light Chinese snack, I would definitely recommend this one!

It is not heavy on the stomach but will surely delight your taste buds!

You Tiao Dessert

3. You Tiao Dessert (Php 110)

People like me who have a sweet tooth will like the You Tiao Dessert. It’s made of you tiao (with a twist!) with crushed peanuts and sweet milk sauce. I would describe the appearance of the bread as somehow like Chinese-style churros. Although it is a dessert, I think that it is not too sweet that will make you umay. It is also perfect for merienda—it’s light and will give you the energy you need until dinner!

Rice Combo 2

2. CFC Rice Bowl (Php 179)

This is a Chinese Fried Chicken (CFC) paired with rice. The chicken is soy-glazed which makes it more appealing and mouth-watering. The fried chicken is unlike the regular chicken we have here in the Philippines. From the first bite, you will immediately taste the Chinese spices in the food. 3 pieces of their famous Sheng Jian Bao is also added to the meal. Adding rice to the chicken was a great idea since, let’s face it, who doesn’t love rice?

This made the dish more ideal for us Filipinos who are looking for a fusion of Filipino and Chinese flavors.

Sheng Jian Bao 5

1. Sheng Jian Bao (Php 195)

The Sheng Jian Bao is a pan-fried pork soup dumpling paired with a black vinegar sauce. I find this one interesting because the dumplings are fried which makes the bottom crunchy yet the top layer remains soft as if steamed. It’s also amazing how even with the soup inside it, it does not turn soggy. When you bite the Sheng Jian Bao, the soup will ooze in your mouth, giving an exotic taste that blends well with the flavorful pork inside it. For 195, you will get 6 pieces of this dumpling which I think is good for its price, considering the uniqueness of the preparation of the food. It is definitely a must-try!

Soya Milk and Wintermelon Tea 1

Drinks (Php 95)

Mai Wei Fang’s Wintermelon Tea and Soya Milk specialty are definitely refreshing! They are neither too sweet nor too bland, just the perfect blend! What I also like about these is that they are made fresh every day. It is a healthy drink without compromising the taste. Quench your thirst with these beverages—perfectly paired with Mai Wei Fang’s sandwiches!
