3. ENJOY CULTURED INÂ THEIR ART SCENE.
I am a huge advocate of supporting local artists, so I highly recommend you show some support to their budding art community by paying a visit to Silid ti Adal ken Laing ti La Union, also known as the La Union Art Gallery located at San Fernando City. Small but full of potential, the gallery displays the works of their homegrown talents, exhibiting various styles and techniques when it comes to executing their visual masterpieces.
Some personal favorites would definitely include the distinct artworks of Rodel Rillera, which show an interesting use of texture, colors, and geometrical shapes. The artworks displayed are currently not for sale, but you can definitely inquire at their front desk if anything captures your interest.
2. GET UP CLOSE WITH THE BEES.
Feeling like trying out something entirely new? Then get up close with the friendly bees of the La Union Bee Farm. There, they will tour you around their small area and teach you the trade of the bees complete with some scientific facts and picture-taking a la education trip.
Bonus experience: dip your fingers and taste raw honey fresh from the hive! It tastes crazy different from the ones that you’d usually get from the stores and it is the bomb. While you’re at it, bring home and buy bottles raw honey as pasalubong! You won’t regret it.
1. PARTY HARD AND EXPERIENCE THE LU BAR CRAWL.
Wall of portraits at Surf Shack
Of course, nothing can end the day better than a great night cap. There has been a noticeable increase of establishments in San Juan, where you won’t just get to eat awesome food, but will also get to experience some fun drinking and dancing.
Mad Monkeys Burger
Although relatively new to the scene, Mad Monkeys are starting a name of their own, thanks to their burgers that ooze with cheese and are stuffed with thick and very tasty patties. I highly suggest paying a visit if you’re about to end the night as their burgers and fries are the perfect drunk food. PS: Don’t miss out on their sriracha mayo, either!
Surf Shack’s Pizza
One of the more well-known places in the area is Surf Shack located near Moonleaf San Juan. They serve delectable food, refreshing cocktails, and a variety of beer and wine, quickly turning it into a staple to the area’s night scene. Trust me: you have to try their pizza as it is honestly one of the best ones out there. They also have a live band to entertain guests, and the strums and serenades add to that chill vibe of the restaurant.
Want to bust a groove like no one’s watching? Pay a visit to the newly opened club at Planet G where they have a spacious dance floor for you to unleash the dancer in you. They also serve a variety of cocktails and liquor, as well as snacks and pulutan. Much like the clubs in Manila, they also have standing tables and couches for everyone.
Still not convinced? Just remember that there are gorgeous sunrises and sunsets that you can catch by the beach. That, in itself, is more than enough reason to fall in love La Union.
