Dry January 2022: 5 Easy Recipes of the Best Mocktails to Try at Home

It’s 2022 and that means Dry January is finally here! I’m certain that many of us are planning our New Year’s resolutions which may involve giving up alcohol… thankfully, though, we can still get our fix of fun juice with mocktails!

There are many mocktails out there to try, and just because they are non-alcoholic doesn’t mean they can’t be enjoyable! Stelrad has looked at the 10 most popular mocktails to make at home based on Google search volume. Here they are:

1. Shirley Temple

The most popular mocktail to make at home is a Shirley Temple which received over 12,100 monthly google searches! A Shirley Temple is a non-alcoholic mixed drink traditionally made with ginger ale and grenadine syrup, garnished with a maraschino cherry.

Ingredients: Ginger ale and a splash of grenadine syrup

Preparation: Add a splash of grenadine to a glass of ginger ale, garnish with a maraschino cherry.

Standard garnish: Maraschino cherry.

2. Arnold Palmer

With 5,400 monthly searches, the mocktail Arnold Palmer takes the second position on the list. The Arnold Palmer is a non-alcoholic beverage that combines iced tea and lemonade. The name refers to the professional American golfer Arnold Palmer, who was known to often request and drink this beverage combination.

Ingredients: Lemonade, iced tea and Lemon slice.

Preparation: Pour the ¼ of lemonade into a ½ filled tall glass of iced tea filled with ice.

Standard garnish: Lemon slice.

3. Virgin Piña Colada

With 1300 monthly searches, a virgin Piña Colada is the third most popular mocktail on the list. While the traditional cocktail is made with white rum, cream of coconut, and pineapple juice. In this easy nonalcoholic recipe, you achieve a similar result but without the alcohol!

Ingredients: Pineapple juice, lime juice and unsweetened coconut milk

Preparation: Pour the pineapple juice into a tall glass, and add the coconut milk and lime juice. Stir gently. Fill up the glass with a handful of ice and garnish with pineapple leaves and a cherry.

Standard garnish: Pineapple wedge and/or a maraschino cherry.

4. Virgin Mary

The Bloody Mary is one of the most popular cocktails but this mocktail version is still just as good and loaded with flavor. A perfect substitute to try this dry Jan! Serve and enjoy!

Ingredients: Tomato juice, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper and hot sauce

Preparation: Pour the tomato juice and lemon juice into a highball glass filled with ice cubes and mix. Add the Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and hot sauce. Garnish with the celery stalk or pickle spear if using.

Standard garnish: Stalk celery and a pickle spear.

5. Freddie Bartholomew

A Freddie Bartholomew reaches 1000 searches a month, the mixture of the citrus ginger ale and the lime juice makes this an easy mocktail to enjoy if you’re cutting out alcohol. It is typically served garnished with a slice of lime and in a highball or old fashioned glass.

Ingredients: Lime juice, lime slice and ginger ale.

Preparation: Pour a dash of sweetened lime juice into a cocktail glass over ice, then pour in the ginger ale. Garnish with a twist of lime to serve.

Standard garnish: Lime.
