5 Cookie Shops That Prove That Classic Flavors are Unbeatable

Classic Cookie Flavor

One of my favorite sweet treats are cookies and I’m so happy that there are so many bakeries and stores offering new and unusual flavors. Chili cookies? A cookie made with wild boar’s blood creme brulee in a dark chocolate shell and burnt sugar cap? Sign me up.

Despite the hundreds of flavors available in the market, there’s still something to be said about the classic chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies. It’s simple, it’s basic, but it’s exactly those things that make it timeless. Cookie dough, chocolate chip, and oatmeal just go well together. As they say, don’t fix what isn’t broken. Below are 5 recent discoveries that prove that in a sea of unusual variants, classic flavors are still the undisputed leader in cookies:

Joey’s Cookies

Joey’s Cookies proves that if you have a good recipe, you don’t need to stray far from classic flavors. This homegrown brand offers three variants: the Chocolate Chip Cookie, Oatmeal Choco Chip Cookie, and the Oatmeal Raisin Cookie. I tried all the flavors and enjoyed how generous the ingredients were. The chocolate chips presented a great pop of flavor while the oatmeal added an interesting texture. As you can see, the oatmeal is baked whole and not mushed. I usually associate oatmeal with raisins so I was surprised at how well the choco chips complimented it.

The Fat Milk

The Fat Milk is a small online bakeshop that just opened last month. The owner, Alex Garcia, has been baking since childhood; and The Fat Milk was built with hopes of reliving that passion for the craft. Today, The Fat Milk is happy to offer homemade goodies to everyone. Cookies aside, they also have triple chocolate brownies, brazo rolls, and banoffee pie.

Crumbs Couture

Crumbs Couture 1

Crumbs Couture is probably one of the most decadent cookies we’ve tried. Their Giant Premium Chocolate Chip Cookie is literally the size of a small burger, and is filled with large chocolate chips that feel almost like chunks. The giant premium variant is perfect for those with big appetites for sweet treats, but Crumbs Couture also offers a regular-sized version for those who aren’t ready for the huge cookie (though at just a P30 price difference, it might be better to get the premium version and split it into two). Crumbs Couture also offers the regular-sized Dark Fudge Chocolate Chip Cookie, which has the same amount of flavor and chocolate chips. Aside from cookies, they also have a creamy blueberry cheesecake in a tin can (owner Paola Tesoro won the World’s Super Creative Cake Decorator at the Amazing Cake Ideas USA so it’s also worth a try).

How to order: Drop them a message on their Instagram page at @crumbscouturepaolatesoro. Delivers via Lalamove and Grab.

The Naked Goodies

The Naked Goodies

If you like your cookies thick, soft, and doughy, The Naked Goodies is for you. They offer Chocolate Chip Cookies with Walnuts and Oatmeal with Raisin Cookies. Both come in a chewy consistency that cookie dough lovers will enjoy. Our personal favorite is the Oatmeal with Raisin Cookies because they’re tiny (making me feel less guilty for indulging) and the raisins are juicy.

How to order: Send them a DM on @the_naked_goodies. Delivers using Grab, Lalamove, and more.

3 Tablespoons

3 Tablespoons Classic Back2Back Cookies

Although 3 Tablespoons’ headturners are their coffee cookies and chili cookies, they also have cookies for those who prefer to keep things simple. The Classic cookies consist of original cookie batter with milk and dark chocolate, while the Back2Back cookies are cocoa-based with milk, dark, and white chocolate. You can get both in one package, too (equally divided). The best part is that part of their proceeds goes to the PWD community, so you can help out a good cause with every order.

How to order: Visit their Instagram page at @3tablespoons. Offers pickups in Quezon City and Marikina, and delivery elsewhere.
