Imagine waking up in an elevator that goes upward in an insane speed without any memory from the past, just vague visions that you can’t even recognize. Imagine being a place where there seems to be no escape route, but a dangerous maze where no one survives after being trapped for a night. This sci-fi action thriller movie revolves around this concept. The Maze Runner, based on the New York Times best-selling trilogy of James Dashner, will definitely keep you on your toes for the whole duration of the film.
The story revolves around sixteen-year-old Thomas, who finds himself in a community of other boys trapped in the middle of The Maze, which they call The Glade. Haunted by strange dreams about a mysterious organization known as W.C.K.D., he tries to pierce these little fragments together to formulate their escape. When he first slays one of the monsters inside the The Maze, Thomas realizes that there must be a way out that they just have to find. And their intensely gripping journey out begins.

You’ll be amazed at how brilliant this idea is, and I highly commend the author for this, as well as the whole film production team, from the grievers to the changing maze day after day and the clues leading to the exit.
3. The Runner
You will instantly root for Thomas just because of his innocently curious, innocently intelligent, and innocently brave looks. Plus, Teen Wolf’s Dylan O’Brien plays the lead.
2. The Escape
The best part of the movie, I must say, is the escape. I was at the edge of my seat with my hands firmly planted at my arm rest and my breath held as the Grievers ran after them. After this action-packed part, though, the comic timing was too funny that it gave the audience a break from all of the intensity. Seriously.
1. The End
I love that this movie didn’t make me feel bitin. In other words, it did not make me say, “THAT’S IT?!” Instead, it made me look forward to the next installment; it got me excited for the next movie. The story is whole and will make you think that endings can be THAT GOOD, after all.
