Without a doubt, there are a lot of awesome Hollywood movies out at the moment. However, we shouldn’t forget to support local movies, as well.
Cine Lokal is a partnership between SM Cinemas and the Film Development Council of the Philippines to showcase various award-winning independent films of years past. This June, these are the films you can look forward to for Cine Lokal along with their screening schedules (to find out more about each of the movies, read on after the poster):
Sleepless: June 2 to June 8
If you’re in the mood for a different kind of romantic comedy, check out ‘Sleepless’. This film revolves around two insomniacs who bond over various topics because of their loneliness at night while the rest of the world sleeps.

Area: June 9 to June 15
In ‘Area’, Ai Ai De Las Alas plays the role of a prostitute in Angeles, Pampanga, who hopes to get out of her current profession.
Ang Huling Cha-Cha ni Anita: June 16 to June 22
In this movie, 12-year old Anita falls in love with an older woman during Bulacan’s Fiesta of Santa Clara.
Slumber Party: June 23 to June 29
Three gay BFFs decide to have a slumber party before the Miss Universe pageant, but their sleepover gets interrupted by a boy who wants to become a man.
The last two films are showing in support of LGBT Pride Month, but all of them are worth watching. Time to tag your friends and have a different kind of movie date this June! 🙂
