Over the past years, I’ve realized how much of a difference it makes to change your environment every now and then. While waiting for my next out-of-town trip, I’ve found that staycations right in the heart of the city are another great way to recharge and recharge. It also works best for those days when I just need a quick breather.
We recently stayed at the famed Discovery Suites in Ortigas for a staycation, and it was easy to see why this legendary institution is still around offering a luxurious space for all after more than two decades in business.

We’ve stayed at Discovery Suites multiple times already, and one of the best things we love about this hotel is its location. It’s smack-dab in the middle of Metro Manila and it’s within walking distance of multiple malls and many business buildings in Ortigas—perfect for going straight to work on Monday. It’s also right in front of The Podium so you can get your Wildflour fix or go on a quick shopping spree anytime you’d like!

We also love how accessible it is to public transportation, too! Discovery Suites is only a short walk to SM Megamall’s bus and UV terminals, as well as a short walk to the MRT station. If you’re a city girl like me, you’ll surely appreciate the great location of Discovery Suites, too.
2. Delectable food options
While Discovery Suites is known for its luxurious and spacious accommodations, another thing worth noting is the variety of food options that they offer to the public!

22Prime, which is located on the hotel’s 22nd floor, is one of our favorite steakhouses because they provide perfectly cooked and tender US Prime Angus steaks that won’t burn a huge hole in your wallet. They also offer unlimited steak and side promos every now and then—that’s unlimited steaks for the price of one meal!
If you’re not into steak, you can also check out their Gourmet Burger Bar for some of the tastiest burgers you’ll ever enjoy, or their massive pizzas and pasta dishes that are sure to tickle your tastebuds.
To top off a great food experience, 22Prime also offers a sophisticated ambiance paired with a great view of the city, making it a favorite restaurant for special occasions, too.
Restaurant 5 is another in-house restaurant that offers a sumptuous Filipino buffet lunch from Wednesday to Friday. At PHP 750 per head and a wide array of tasty Filipino dishes, Restaurant 5 is also a go-to restaurant for many workers in the area.
With 22Prime, Restaurant 5, and a great food selection for in-room dining, you won’t even have to set foot outside Discovery Suites to have a delectable food experience.
1. Premium accommodations and remarkable service
We love how our stay at Discovery Suites always makes us feel like we’re on top of the world. Their collection of suites offers above and beyond the usual amenities of a city hotel. All their suites have a bathtub—even their Junior Suite, which is the most affordable option (starting at PHP 4,350 net)! It’s a great option for couples or solo flyers.
They also have a couple of spacious suites with one to three bedrooms for families or huge groups. Their Three-Bedroom Suite can comfortably accommodate up to 8 people! These suites also include a kitchenette and complete kitchenware and dinnerware in case you want to cook your own meals.
While we enjoyed all the amenities of their suites and the hotel’s complete amenities (a swimming pool and a fully equipped gym), we particularly loved the hospitality and warm welcome of the Discovery Suites staff.
Everyone was quick to assist and did so with delightful smiles. Even their guest relations would regularly check up on us to ask if we needed anything. I could not stress enough how they made our staycation experience all the more relaxing.

It’s truly not a surprise why Discovery Suites continues to be a beloved premier hotel in Metro Manila after more than two decades of standing in the heart of Ortigas CBD.
