It’s been months since the last Avengers installment came out in cinemas, but the hype hasn’t died down a single bit. Until today, fans are still talking about what the possible sequel of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ might hold. As depressing as the ending of the last movie was, we’re hoping that most of our favorite characters will be coming back. I mean, they have to, right? There are sequels for ‘Black Panther’ and ‘Doctor Strange’ in the works, after all.

What we’d love to know, though, is how these characters might return. Here are 3 of our favorite theories of the upcoming ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ movie (set to come out next year) that could actually come true.

3. Loki didn’t die.

As painful as it was to watch Loki go in the opening scene of the last ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, some fans think that that wasn’t actually the real Loki that we watched go, but a mere illusion of him. Apparently, if you pay close attention, you’ll notice that Loki tries to stab Thanos with his left hand instead of his right. Some fans have pointed out that the only time we’ve seen Loki use his left hand was when he faked his own death in ‘Thor: The Dark World’.

Some fans have even rewatched the movie to see how true this is. Apparently, while Loki does hand Thanos the Space Stone with his right hand, we don’t actually see him for a while. As such, it is completely possible that Loki already created an illusion during that time to fake-sacrifice himself in the process.

2. The Soul Stone is full of, well… souls.

The Russo brothers have already implied that when Gamora died, her soul entered the Soul Stone. After Thanos snaps his fingers and ends up in what seems like a dream with baby Gamora, fans have speculated that that ‘dream’ might be showing us what the Soul Stone looks like inside.

If this is the case and Gamora actually exists inside the Soul Stone, several fans have theorized that the other characters who turned into dust may have ended up inside the Soul Stone, as well.

1. They will time travel.

There are various ways in which the Avengers might time travel in the next movie. Now, we know that the Time Stone has that particular power. We also know that Doctor Strange saw millions of different futures in the last ‘Infinity War’ movie and yet still gives up the stone, suggesting that that was the only way the Avengers could have a chance to defeat Thanos in the long run. He obviously didn’t tell everyone how to defeat Thanos to keep things interesting for us moviegoers. :p

Now, if you’ve seen the Ant-Man movies, you’ll know all about the beautiful Quantum Realm. If you waited for the after-credits of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’, you’ll also know that Ant-Man was stuck in the Quantum Realm after the Pym family vanished after the Thanos snap. We also know that the only way to get him out of the Quantum Realm is by having someone else get him out of there.

Now, while we don’t really know how he gets out of there, leaked photos of the Avengers on set have shown that they have successfully traveled back in time to various other important scenes in older movies, including ‘The Avengers’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ where we have seen the Infinity Stones. This probably means that they are trying to get the stones back to revert Thanos’ snap or are trying to eliminate them altogether. We’ll just have to wait and see.
