Minzy was known as the main dancer of 2NE1 before she left the group, as well as the group’s agency YG Entertainment, in April 2016. She then signed with CJ E&M’s subsidiary label Music Works. In April 2020, she became an independent artist and launched her own company.
2NE1 also consisted of members Bom, CL, and Dara. The idol group officially disbanded in November 2016 before releasing their final single “Goodbye” in January 2017.
Minzy will be the second member to launch her career in the Philippines, after Sandara Park who grew to fame in the local showbiz industry when she joined Star Circle Quest in 2004.
