2nd Aklat Sining Expo Celebrates Filipino Creativity and Indie Literature

The spirit of Filipino creativity was on full display as Pinoy Indie Authors, in partnership with Eastwood City and Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, successfully held the 2nd Aklat Sining: A Pinoy Books & Art Expo last November 29 at the Eastwood Mall Atrium. Running from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, the one-day expo drew in a lively crowd of readers, writers, families, and art enthusiasts—all eager to celebrate homegrown stories and independent artistry.

This year’s Aklat Sining expanded its offerings with an engaging mix of activities. Children enjoyed interactive storytelling sessions, while book lovers lined up for exclusive book launches and author signings from a wide selection of indie Filipino writers. Aspiring creators also benefited from insightful talks on art, writing, maximizing life, and a mission to the Mangyan Tribe, gaining valuable knowledge from seasoned authors and artists.

One of the highlights of the event was the back-to-back book launches of Pinoy Indie Authors’ two recently concluded collaborations: “It’s About Crime,” a crime fiction book collection of 13 authors, and “Lights, Shadows, and Other Truths,” a poetry book collection of 6 poets.

There was also a book donation drive, which encouraged attendees to contribute titles for community libraries and reading advocacy groups. The meet-and-greet sessions fostered meaningful exchanges between creators and their supporters, further strengthening the local literary and arts community.

The atrium buzzed with energy throughout the day, with booths featuring locally published books, handmade crafts, artworks, and zines—each one a testament to the vibrancy and diversity of Filipino creativity. The expo once again proved to be a welcoming space where storytellers and artists could connect with their audience and with one another.

Admission remained free, making the event accessible to the public and inviting newcomers to discover the richness of the indie scene.

For those who want to stay updated on future events and initiatives, Pinoy Indie Authors, Eastwood City, and Megaworld Lifestyle Malls continue to share announcements through their official social media pages.

The success of the 2nd Aklat Sining underscores the growing support for independent Filipino creators—an encouraging sign that the country’s literary and artistic landscape continues to thrive.a
