After years of waiting, a second season for Re:Zero is finally here. It follows the story of Subaru Natsuki, a hikikomori (hermit) who suddenly finds himself transported to another world on his way home from the convenience store. He befriends half-elf girl named Emilia and he soon discovers that he has the power to turn back time by dying.

9. Digimon Adventure
Beloved Japanese anime franchise Digimon is coming back to movie screens in 2020 for one more adventure. Titled Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna, the movie follows Taichi, Yamato, Sora, Koshiro, Mimi, Joe, Takeru, and Kari who are now adults in their early 20s and are faced with the awful truth that they may soon have to let go of their Digimon as they grow older.

8. Aggretsuko Season 3
Our favorite death metal red panda is coming back this year with all-new adventures and misadventures as she continues to navigate adulthood single, overworked, and constantly on the edge.

7. Uzumaki
Junji Ito’s classic horror manga is finally getting an anime adaptation! The story will revolve around a town that becomes obsessed with repeating spiral patterns and other horrors until the town is gradually taken over by them.

6. Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045
The latest installment of the Ghost in the Shell franchise is Netflix animated original Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045. It follows the story of Major Motoko Kusanagi and the former members of Section 9 who grapple with the appearance of a “Post-Human,” a being with tremendous intelligence and physical capabilities.

5. Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0
Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0 has long been anticipated by fans of the franchise ever since it was first teased in 2012. Finally, it’s coming this year! It’s the fourth and final installment of the Rebuild of Evangelion reboot film series and will continue from the events of the third film, which saw Tokyo-3 reduced to rubble following the advent of Fourth Impact, a cataclysmic incident triggered by Shinji.

4. Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season
This is undeniably one of the most highly-anticipated series of the year. Attack on Titan Season 4 will finally bring an end to the story of humanity’s desperate attempt to protect themselves against the giants that kill and devour humans.

3. Kimetsu no Yaiba: Infinity Train
Demon Slayer quickly became a popular anime in 2019 with fans of the series falling in love with its characters—Tanjirou and Nezuko, siblings who vow to slay the monsters that killed their mother and turned Nezuko into a demon. This upcoming movie will cover the “Infinity Train” arc of the manga.

2. Food Wars: The Fifth Plate
On what may be the final season of beloved cooking anime Shokugeki no Souma, The Fifth Plate will follow the adventures and challenges of Yukihira Souma and his friends, who have now risen to the top of Totsuki Academy as the new Elite Ten.

1. My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising
The most recent My Hero Academia film, Heroes Rising follows all 20 classmates from class 1-A heading to an island to protect the people of the island, including a brother and sister who love heroes, from the “greatest villain” Nine. According to Kohei Horikoshi, this might be the last My Hero Academia film.
