Here’s a delicious weekend plan for you this September. Multi-awarded steakhouse 22 Prime is collaborating with Chef Sharwin Tee for a 2-night special dinner event where “East Meets Grill.”
This special weekend dinner features a 6-course meal with dishes inspired by the classic 80’s steakhouse mixed with a flavorful Asian twist.

We got to try this exclusive menu and here’s a sneak peek of what to expect:
First, this limited edition menu starts off with tasty appetizers. One is an amuse-bouche of savory seared tuna with peanut sauce (which is Chef Sharwin’s version of a chicken satay) and delicious chopped salad served on a parmesan tartlet with Malaysian rojak sauce.
This pairing is such a delightful treat and is sure to entice your tastebuds for what else is to come.
Next, we were served a Shrimp Cocktail with Chili Crab Granita, which is reminiscent of Singapore’s famous chili crabs. We loved how fresh the steamed shrimp was and how the chili crab granita was tasty yet subtle. Plus, it’s served with a blob of fried egg sauce that adds extra flavor and richness to the dish.
The soup was quite a surprise. It’s a Bah Kut Teh Consomme which features house-made pork terrine topped with pickled chayote. The consomme is savory and bursting with meaty flavor, making it the perfect “canvas” for the delicious pork terrine.
Next on the menu was the Grilled Mahi-Mahi which features tender and perfectly cooked grilled fish topped with Malaysian-inspired sambal belacan hollandaise served on a bed of coconut rice. All the elements of this dish blended together perfectly.
Then comes the dish we’ve all been waiting for: 22 Prime’s famous USDA ribeye steak with an Asian twist.
Chef Sharwin calls the dish “Crying Tiger”. It features USDA ribeye marinated in a daging harimau menangis marinade which hails from Thailand. It is then served with a cherry tomatoes salad and gratin potatoes with Singaporean laksa sauce. I’m sure you can already imagine how flavorful this dish is.
The Thai-inspired marinade really added a flavorful twist to the premium steak of 22 Prime. It’s like a sweet and savory barbeque but more elevated. It’s also interesting how Chef Sherwin incorporated Singapore’s famous laksa into the gratin potatoes.
While the whole menu was amazing, this dish definitely stood out for me.
And to finish off the 6-course feast, we were served a Baked Alaska for dessert. It had red bean ice cream, salted coconut ice cream, and pandan ice cream covered in fluffy Italian meringue. And for an extra Asian twist, it’s topped with haw flakes! It adds extra texture and tang to the sweet treat, so it definitely works.
Note that the serving for some dishes can get quite big for a 6-course meal, so be sure to pace yourself through the courses to be able to enjoy every dish!
While the gastronomic menu with mouthwatering dishes is already more than enough reason for you to try this dinner event, you’ll also be glad to know that “East Meets Grill: A Southeast Asian Steak Affair” is also a feast for a cause.
A portion of the revenue will be dedicated to supporting the Aeta community in Capas, Tarlac, through Aeta Ako, Pilipino Ako, Foundation Inc. The funds will contribute to the education of 4 senior high students to provide them access to a better and brighter future.
