Organized by the Visit Korea Committee (VKC), the 2014 KPOP Festival in Incheon was launched in association with the Incheon Asian Games 2014, as well as for the purpose of expanding the base of the Korean Culture and raising awareness of Korea as a desirable tourist destination.

The Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines first held its Pinoy Kpop Star in 2011, with Karla Carreon winning the first-ever K-Pop World Competition, both the Philippine and the Global leg.

In 2012, the cover dance group Boys on Fire placed fourth in the KPOP Dance Cover Contest held in Korea.

The Visit Korea Committee has been holding the K-Pop Festival for four consecutive years, in collaboration with the local governments. For the 2014 leg, VKC is partnering with the Incheon Metropolitan City which will play host to the 2014 Asian Games.
