The University of the Philippines assured its students and the public that the proper protocols were followed with regards to two faculty members being declared patients under investigation (PUIs) for COVID-19.
UP Diliman Health Service (UPHS) Director Jesusa Catabui stated that the protocols in isolating patients and disinfecting the premises and ambulance used were strictly followed.

As part of that protocol, UP administrators instructed all constituents who “have come into close contact with a confirmed case, or have been exposed to potential infection during travels, to seek consultation with the University Health Service on campus, or at the nearest health facility, and undergo a health assessment before resuming their daily routine.”
In the same vein, UPHS and the Quezon City Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (CESU) coordinated contract-tracing for both patients. All individuals that have been in close contact with the PUIs are currently under monitored home quarantine.
Buildings that have been visited by the PUIs are now being disinfected.
The 2 faculty members submitted themselves for testing after attending an academic conference in Japan. UPHS declared the two as PUIs after showing fever and respiratory symptoms.
