Thursday is science’s way of proving to us that time is relative. Just one day ahead of Friday, it can feel like infinity, especially when work and assignments pile up mysteriously. Because of this, the urge to either party or relax starts to grow on Thursday mornings. But for those eager to start their weekends early, what are the things to do or places to go to? Turns out, a lot of businesses are offering treats to weekend warriors who can no longer wait.

10. Refuel at Lost World Thursdays at Rocket Room

Since the weekend is coming (and you’re exhausted at this point), it’s best to refuel at Rocket Room. Every Thursday, they have a buy one take one promo on Rocket Fuel, a signature drink containing  a potent mix of house-made jalapeno pepper vodka, Cointreau, and lime. Lost World Thursdays also have shots for P100, but don’t forget to check out their other drinks, many of which are infused in-house.

9. Kick back like you were in college at Hyve

Who says you have to be in college to party like a college kid? Post-grad or not, Thursdays at Hyve are dedicated to Thursday Night Out, the ultimate college party edition. It’s the perfect throwback for the working folk, when all you needed to worry about was your homework and who the DJ for the night is. Thursdays are for EDM so prepare to go crazy.

8. Spit out your drink while laughing with SPIT Manila

If you’re feeling down on a Thursday, SPIT Manila has got you covered. SPIT, or Silly People’s Improv Theater, holds unscripted and unrehearsed comedic shows. They’re known for their hilarious and smart humor, and they usually hold court every Thursday at Commune in Makati. However, because of their popularity, schedules and gigs may change, so better check out their Facebook page. After all, what’s an improv group if their schedules are set in stone?

7. Learn the Japanese culture at the Japan Foundation

If you’re looking to study another culture, why not the Japanese? Our culture is tied with theirs, especially when it comes to anime, manga, and cosplay. The Japan Foundation’s library is open to the public, and is home to books, comics, magazines, newspapers, CDs, and movies related to Japanese arts. Swing by after work (they close at 7PM on Thursdays) and relive your childhood by watching old episodes of Voltes V. Hopefully they’ll have it.

6. Shop for art and toys at Secret Fresh

If you think you have to be a kid to buy toys, think again. Secret Fresh is home to the hippest toys and art pieces. They also double as an art gallery, so they also exhibit experimental art from some of Manila’s coolest artists. The toys they have are so beautiful that you’d never want to take them out of the box.

5. Have some fun at Thursday Night Fun at Burger Company

For chill-out and family-friendly excitement, Burger Company‘s Thursday Night Fun is the perfect way to de-stress from work or school. The burger joint has different themes each week, from improv, standup comedy, and acoustic sessions. These are best enjoyed with their burgers, a mouthwatering mix of unusual ingredients like pineapple and gorgonzola. And they also have board games for sale and for rent!

4. Be untouchable at Prohibition Liquor Lounge

If you want to hide from the rest of the world, you can find a secret world at Prohibition Liquor Lounge, which can be accessed from a secret door at Dillingers 1903. Prohibition has that speakeasy vibe, with audible (but not deafening) music, a secret doorway, and a terrace overlooking Makati Avenue. It’s the perfect place to leave your stress at the door, and just enjoy the night. No one will tell.

3. Live from The Keg, it’s Thursday Night Live!

No, it’s not a sketch comedy show featuring celebrity guests. It’s an acoustic night featuring different singers to soothe your tired soul. This is the perfect place if you want to avoid the EDM crowd and just have a chill evening with some good friends. To make it more relaxed, they have a double happy hour from 5PM to 10PM and 1AM until closing.

2. Do a throwback

Ever heard of #throwbackthursdays? Take the hashtag out of social media and into your life. Head straight home and binge watch 90’s movies and TV shows. Some of our recommendations are chick flicks like Clueless, 10 Things I Hate About You, The Parent Trap, A Walk to Remember, and Legally Blonde. For TV shows, stick to classics from Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon like Cow and Chicken, Dexter’s Laboratory, Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, and Rocko’s Modern Life.
