A Storytelling Event, The Maker’s Setup.

The Maker’s Setup is a night dedicated to passion projects from different professional fields. The storytelling event that took place last October 7 at Warehouse Eight Coworking Space consisted of well respected speakers representing 5 different fields — technology, business, design, food & beverage, and non-profit.

Brian Cu (co-founder of Zalora and CEO of Grab PH) represented tech, Camille Melloto (founder of Human Nature) for business, Dan Matutina (founder for Plus 63 Design Co.) for design, Jericson Co (co-founder of EDSA Beverage Design Group and The Curator) for food & beverage, and Prim Paypon (founder of The Dream Project) for non-profit.

The event itself had a circular layout similar to a fireside talk inspired by what traditional storytellers used to do. The speaker would have their presentations as they stand (or sit) while they’re telling their stories in the middle of a crowd that is either seated on the floor or benches. An intimate yet casual setting the attendees enjoyed.

The goal for the night was to inspire, to educate, and to discover. The Maker’s Setup was made not only to have successful people talk about their journey, but also for the audience to walk out having discovered something they haven’t heard of or considered before (hence the fact that all the speakers were from different industries).

You could attend the event looking forward to the design talk but along the way you learned something about the food & beverage industry that you haven’t known of before that could influence your own endeavors. The night was a celebration of passion projects — passion was the common bond to what made the speaker’s journeys so fruitful and it’s something the attendees came to learn about

If you missed out on the Maker’s Setup, you could still watch the talks that will be uploaded on Warehouse Eight’s YouTube channel. This is only the first Maker’s Setup and will initiate a series of more storytelling events from different industries.
