If there’s anything the latest Captain America film showed us, is that we’ve got a lot to look forward to in the next Spiderman reboot!
This is all largely because of Tom Holland’s stellar debut as Peter Parker, which gives us a lot of confidence in the new retelling.
Yet it seems that Disney/Marvel has a lot of surprises up their sleeve – Zendaya is set to star as Mary Jane Watson, Peter’s love interest!
For those old enough to remember, Kirsten Dunst played the traditionally red-haired girl in the Tobey Maguire-starred films.
Zendaya originally got her start in Disney’s Shake It Up, and her casting is an interesting choice by the producers.
Some fans aren’t too happy about it however, as they say that Zendaya “doesn’t look right” for the part.
Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn however, came to Zendaya’s defense, saying:
“People get upset when something they consider intrinsic to a comic book character changes when adapted for a film. I get this. That said, I do not believe a character is the color of his or her skin.”
