For over 35 years, Yakult Philippines has only stuck with its original flavor. Generations and generations have enjoyed this delicious little bottle full of lactus bacilli shirota strain that aid our tummies for digestion! When I was a kid, one bottle was never enough for me; I could drink a whole pack all on my own!
I have been a Yakult fanatic since then and I still drink Yakult everyday, especially during meals to promote better digestion. It actually started to become a habit after I discovered its health benefits. Luckily for me, the When In Manila team got the chance to visit their plant in Calamba, Laguna recently, so just imagine my happy face and giddiness as we toured the area!
Touring around the plant was like walking around Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, except that this one was swarming with loads of Yakult bottles! We went crazy seeing all of those delicious, freshly made Yakult bottles sliding onto the conveyor!
Organized, clean and well-maintained. Each section was divided into the different manufacturing process stages in making a Yakult bottle. And did you know that Yakult Philippines produces an estimate number of 2.4 million bottles each day?? That’s like a giant Olympic-sized swimming pool filled with Yakult!!! Darn, I would love to dip into that Yakult pool someday!
After our tour, Yakult Philippines proudly announced that they will be releasing a new kind of Yakult – a Yakult that is fitting for the diet-conscious and the ones who need to watch their sugar levels – all at the same reasonable price as the original one. Branded with a blue cover signifying its lightness, Yakult Light is definitely one to watch out for!

What’s the difference? Aside from the color branding, nothing major on the taste part except it is less sweet. Still the same citrusy-milky Yakult taste we all love, but with fewer calories and with 0% fat.
