With The Lights Out (URCC x Dutdutan 2014)

Photo gallery showing the highlight of the matches at the recently concluded Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) exhibition match at Dutdutan 2014. It was supposed to be a five way matchup. However, one of the contenders were not allowed by the medic board due to being physically unfit to fight so the bout was down to four. It was an all-Filipino competition except for one Japanese fighter who also emerged victorious.

I’m glad they changed from a rope type of ring to a cage type. The audience had a better perspective on what was happening inside the ring this way. Also from a photographer’s view point, this is good. Since you can’t shoot properly due to the ropes being big distraction to your subject/s unless you are shooting at the ring side.

I remember, the last time they had this rope type of ring, one of the fighters ended up on the floor (literally!). The rope failed to catch the combatant while they were in the heat of the match and took a nosedive to the floor. He was carried backstage in a stretcher (ouch!).

I just read that this was also part of their relaunch, so the fighters could familiarise themselves in fighting in this kind of fight since major international competitions like OneFC, Strikeforce and UFC were all held inside a cage.
