Will This Hotel be the Official Residence of the Miss Universe Contestants in Manila

Everyone is excited for the Philippines to host the 2016 Miss Universe pageant, after the country played host in 1974 and 1994. The Philippines was put in the spotlight after Pia Wurtzbach won the crown last year, also becoming the third Filipina to win the title. Rumor has it that the pageant will be held in various locations such as Palawan, Boracay, and Cebu, but we wonder: where will the contestants stay in Manila?

If rumors are true, they will be staying in Okada Manila, a $2.4 billion integrated resort and gaming complex sitting on a 44-hectare land three kilometers away from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). The resort is owned by Japanese casino mogul Kazuo Okada, who is one of the sponsors for the Miss Universe pageant.

The resort will feature 993 rooms and 21 self-operated restaurants, while the gaming complex will have 500 table games and around 3,000 electronic game machines. The complex will also have a retail promenade featuring local and international brands, a glass dome-enclosed beach club with white sand that can fit 4,500 people, and a two-hectare fountain that will be one of the world’s biggest.

Okada Manila is set to have its soft opening this December, one month ahead of the Miss Universe pageant in January 30, 2017.
