OK, so finding this place might not be as easy as finding a corrupt politician in the Philippines (sorry, WIM News reference), but when you do I swear that you’ll be glad to have found the Big Sky Mind.
This isn’t your typical bar, and honestly, you may not have even heard of it unless you’re down with the artsy people of Manila. But don’t be fooled, Big Sky Mind is one for the champions! This place quickly won three awards in my award book (ok so it’s not a real award, well, it’s not even a real book, but hey the Oscars or the Grammys are only real because you think it is… now ponder that for a minute…) Anyway, as I was saying, Big Sky Mind quickly won three awards in the Vince’s Awesome Awards Book (yes, my award book has a name now!).
Big Sky Mind won not only the “Coolest Hole-in-the-Wall Bar in Manila” and the “Coolest Bartender in a Hole-in-the-Wall Bar in Manila,” but it also won “Most difficult coolest Hole-in-the-Wall Bar in Manila to find that serves cobra shots!” So as you can see, it’s a very well-awarded place. Now let me tell you more about these awards before Kanye West interrupts me…
They won the “Coolest Hole-in-the-Wall Bar in Manila” because of their affordable drink prices, availability of Absinthe, the awesome art crowd that comes here, because it’s like an exclusive club where only the “in” people know about this place and because of the Cobra Shot. This shot is one for the brave. They have a couple of bottles that I assume they’ve recycled multiple times… where they pour in a mix of hard liquor… I assume to include tequila, vodka, rum and gin. What’s so special about this you ask? Well in these bottles are real live (well they used to be alive) cobras that seem to be preserved by the alcohol. Anyway, taking this shot is not for the weak at heart, those with lung problems, pregnant women, and pussies…
Moving on, the “Coolest Bartender in a Hole-in-the-Wall Bar in Manila,” goes to Big Sky Mind because of Hank! If you’ve been to Big Sky Mind, then you know who Hank is. If not, let me try to describe him… he looks, acts like and is as drunk as Captain Jack Sparrow of the movie Pirates of the Caribbean. I shit you not! He is pretty much the exact duplicate of Captain Jack Sparrow. I wouldn’t be surprised if Hank sobered up one day and realize that he’s actually a pirate who’s been too drunk to remember where he parked his pirate ship this whole time. But yeah, the guy is funny as hell and has a million cool stories! Be sure to get him a beer and try to have a chat with him. He’ll guarantee you a fun night!
And finally, their last award: “Most difficult coolest place to find that serves cobra shots!” goes again to Big Sky Mind because…

DAMNIT Kanye! Oh well, anywayz, you guys get the picture… so next time, When In Manila, be sure to have a Cobra Shot at Big Sky Mind! Oh and don’t forget to ask Hank about one of his crazy stories too!
