Calling all my fellow skincare enthusiasts! Who doesn’t love a good treatment? I know I certainly do. When I accompanied the girls on a trip to Nuvali, Sta Rosa, Laguna for a day, my intentions were clear. Good food, great company, and rejuvenated skin!
I’ve had many facial treatments in the past, but now that I’m getting a little older, I have learnt the importance of how prevention is better than cure. I’ve also been a long time advocate for organic and “buying local” as much as I can. (Have you heard of Nekkid? Totally up my alley, and might be up yours, too, if you’re anything like me!)
After a month’s worth of stress on my skin, I was ready to pop my Diamond Peel cherry at the Lotus Nails and Body Wellness at Nuvali Solenad Mall.

Lotus Nails and Body Wellness is extremely popular with the locals, and is comprised of a team of friendly, talented, and well trained aestheticians. Lovely and warm, down-to-earth individuals – I can’t remember the last time I had such a genuine welcome. I really felt at home, and I knew I had come to the right place.
They also have the new award-winning and state-of-the-art “Pristine Microdermabrasion Diamond Peel system,” which many other high end spas use, but charge at significantly higher prices. I would have been a fool not to have it done here!
After being introduced to some members of the team, I was ushered to the beauty room, where the diamond peel magic took place. I had two aestheticians: one who explained each step and overall benefits of a Diamond Peel, and one who was giving the treatment.
I was informed of a number of benefits, and I couldn’t wait to see the results!

After our brief chit chat, we proceeded to prepare for the Diamond Peel (with a facial) in this order:
CLEANSING: This felt very refreshing as it was a cool cleanser being used to wipe my makeup off with cotton wool. Bliss!
FACIAL SCRUB: Second step in cleansing, with microbeads to help remove my dead, excess skin cells. This was once again washed and cleaned off with wet cotton wool pads. Fresh!
STEAM: Always one of my favorite stages. Another lotion was applied to my skin, and eye pads were placed over my eyes to protect them from the steam. I relaxed for 15 minutes with the steam machine aimed at my face to open up my pores, ready for that satisfying extraction. Moist!
EXTRACTION: The most satisfying part for me. The moisture from the steam was wiped off my face, and the pricking and digging began. My face felt like a pin cushion for the most part. Ouch!
VACUUMING: The first time I’ve had my face vacuumed. I was told its purpose is to suck up all the missed blackheads and whiteheads off my face.
LASER: I’m always curious with lasers. You can’t really feel anything, but you hear short buzzing sounds. Bizarre!
MASK: This refreshingly cold mask was left on for about 15 minutes to soften and moisturize the skin. Invigorating!
Then onto the DIAMOND PEELING
The moment I had been waiting for. The microdermabrasion rod was run over every inch of my face. It didn’t hurt at all – a little like a slightly vigorous brushing. I could feel the dead skin falling off if that makes any sense? Satisfying!
COLD PRESS: Another cold cream followed by a cold press to close the pores. Cool!
BONUS MASSAGE: This was the cherry on top. Head, shoulders, and neck massage to round off the experience! Euphoric!
Diamond peels really do show instant results. My skin immediately felt and looked like I had slept for 14 hours, fresh from vacation. It was glowing and about as flawless as I have seen it in a long time.
